The 2025 Colors of the Year lean toward earthy tones.

 Benjamin Moore chooses its Color of the Year after a year-long process of global color trend analysis, considering cultural and environmental influences. The chosen color reflects a desired mood and attitude, often representing a blend of timelessness and modernity, with an emphasis on undertones and nuanced colors. For 2025, their Color of the Year is Cinnamon Slate, described as a soothing, velvety hue that embodies both classic and contemporary style.  

  Farrow & Ball does not typically release a "Color of the Year" like some other paint companies. Instead, they focus on introducing new collections of colors that often center around a specific theme. For 2025, they are drawing inspiration from familiar objects and everyday life, with a focus on earthy tones and nostalgia. The new collection features shades such as Dibber (a mossy green), Douter (a smoky gray-green), and Duster (a deep ochre). Additionally, three archival colors are being reintroduced: Etruscan Red, Sap Green, and Broccoli Brown. 

 Pantone's Color of the Year selection is based on meticulous research and observation of global trends in fashion, art, design, and even social and political events. The color experts at the Pantone Color Institute are constantly analyzing what's happening in the world to identify emerging colors and shades that are likely to gain prominence.  The selected color is meant to reflect the mood and zeitgeist of the year. 

In 2025, Sherwin-Williams chose to introduce a Color Capsule of the Year instead of a single Color of the Year to celebrate their 15th anniversary and present a modern, fresh perspective on color. They believed that a capsule would better reflect the current and evolving color trends, providing a balanced and usable range of shades. This capsule includes nine colors, featuring timeless neutrals as well as trendy pops, allowing for flexibility and creativity in color mixing and matching..
